NboroGirl 4.0 out of 5 stars My requirements were simple - just something that will toast bread and bagels and bake small frozen foods such as pizza and fries. Nothing fancy, therefore nothing expensive. I needed to replace my broken one right away. I liked the way it looked, and it felt solid and well made. The removable crumb tray was also located in the front (another nice feature). I've had this for over a week and have used it several times, and it works fine for everything I tried. The toast comes out nice and evenly toasted, bagels and waffles toast fine, I baked a rice dish that came out fine that never would have fit in my old toaster oven. The frozen french fries I tried came out a little burned, even though I did not cook them as long as recommended. I don't broil so I haven't tried the broiler. To toast bread, you set the timer to a number - the larger the number the darker the toast. This timer is like an old-fashioned oven timer that you set to a time and it ticks as it counts down to zero and dings when it reaches zero. At this point it should shut off the toaster oven and your toast should be ready.

There are several problems with this button. First of all, the button is all black and it doesn't have an arrow or dot on it, so you can't tell very well what time you are selecting. I got around this by painting a white dot on it with White-Out. Also, the dial shows the times in increments of 10 minutes with no tick marks in between, so you want a number that's not an increment of 10, you have to estimate it. Bagels toast well at around 4 minutes. Another problem is if you select a time 10, wait for it to start ticking, then move the timer back to the low number I want. Sometimes it stops ticking again and I have to repeat until this finally works. One time I was using the timer and it was ticking happily and then it just stopped midway through. I always use the timer on my microwave oven as a backup so if the Euro-Pro's timer doesn't work, I can manually turn it off when the microwave timer beeps. For the price, it's a decent toaster oven. It toasts; it bakes. UPDATE: I've had this toaster oven for 2 years now and I still really like it. One thing I noticed.The best way around this is just not use the try, if possible. I cover the rack with a piece of tin foil and bake stuff on the foil, and it comes out fine.Please try again later. Please try again later. But the book that comes with it is of no use at all. The so-called 'convection' feature seems to be useless, and there is no explanation how, why or when to use it. It does claim to be 'energy saving', but stresses you must pre-heat the oven to Max before doing anything else. As far as I can tell, if you have the control on Max, both the lower and the upper heating element will heat. Turn it to whatever setting you need to use and the upper element cuts off. Anything you bake in it gets burned on the bottom unless you flip it over mid baking cycle. You must keep close watch on anything you cook in it, which is scary if, as another owner says, the glass door can explode.

It would do much better with a better manual, and with better markings on the knobs so you can more easily see how to set them. It's a shame. We found that it was roomy enough to fit small casserole dishes and bread-sized baking dishes. However, the nice feature of a rounded extension in the back to accomodate a small frozen pizza was useless, since the pizza curled up at the proper baking temp and got burned on the high side. We have counter space, but I like that this oven is small and yet very useful. The convection feature turns on automatically during baking (it's essentially a fan to move the warm air around.) We use it to save energy and heat in our kitchen, especially during the summers in the South. I like the fact it has two racks so I can adjust it to fit the needs of my containers or the food I am cooking. It is very slow to toast bread (about 5 minutes for medium brown) and it does not toast both sides to the same degree of brownness for some reason. One-sided things like bagels come out find. If you toast bread a lot, I would not recommend this oven. Sounds silly, but you will be at risk of breaking the unreplaceable plastic timing knob and have to use pliers or a screw driver to turn it on after that. We are getting tired of using pliers and the way it looks without the knob on the bottom timer, so we'll be replacing the oven soon.
